五里桥村地处环县最南端,共有338户,1626口人,人均耕地2.3亩。这里人多地少,自然条件恶劣。改革开放和党的富民政策,使五里桥村由过去全县有名的穷村一跃为全县首富村。1994年,全村人均纯收入、人均产粮逾“双千”(人均纯收入1020元,人均产粮1100厅);基础设施建设实现“六通”(通电、通路、通电话、通暖气、通广播、通自来水);社会福利事业达到“三免”(免费医疗、免费入学、免部分农民负担),昔日的梦想变成了现实。每当人们看到这些巨大变化,无不称赞村党支部是带领群众脱贫致富的“领头雁”。
