一九八四年十月,中央电大在昆明举办了中国远距离教育管理干部培训讲习班。美国开放大学教育技术研究所所长大卫·霍克里奇教授和新西兰麦西大学校外教学部主任唐纳德·比尤利教授应邀到讲习班分别作了“研究与评估在远距离教育中的地位”和“关于远距离教育基础理论的若干问题”的讲演。比尤利教授回国后,根据讲演的录音整理成文,寄给中央电大。本刊现选登其中一篇译文以飨读者。
