Mr. Wu Jianxiong is one of the most outstanding female physicists in the world and is known as “Empress of Nuclear Physics” and “Lady Curie of China.” In 1912 May she was born in Jiangsu Taicang Liuhe, in 1930 to enter the National Central University (Southeast University predecessor) mathematics study, in 1931 into the Department of physics. In 1936 she went to the United States for further study. In 1957, she first verified the theory of “parity under the weak interaction” in 1957, so that Li Zhengdao and Yang Zhenning won the Nobel Prize in Physics. On February 16, 1997, Mr. Wu Jianxiong passed away in New York City. In commemoration of Mr. Wu’s brilliant scientific achievements, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and the State Council approved the construction of Wu Jianxiong Memorial Hall on the campus of Southeast University, which is also the world’s first Chinese scientist memorial hall. At the inauguration of the Memorial Hall of Wu Jianxiong at the centenary of the founding of Southeast University, Yuan Wei Cheng, son of Mr. Wu, made the following speech.
