William Butler Yeats is a famous English poet, playwright, mystic and also a member of parliament in England and Ireland. He was called “the greatest poet of the twentieth century” by Eliot. With his accomplishments in poetry, Yeats won the 1923 Nobel Prize for Literature, which not only laid the position of Yeats in poetry creation, but also affirmed his contribution to Irish literature and culture. In recent years, the discussion about Yeats poetry style of writing has also become more and more abundant, but from a psychological point of view, Yeats’ poetry writing is still relatively scarce. On this basis, this article will, from the perspective of psychoanalysis, look at the creative anxiety experienced in the process of poetic writing from different periods of Yeats’ creation.
