10月9日,名为“马鞍”的巨型台风横扫东京。尽管日本气象局预测这场台风将是日本近十年来面临风势最大、雨量最多的一次,在“冯鞍”即将登陆日本的数小时之前,当局就通过各大媒体呼吁市民们要做出防备,但这一天的早晨,仍有近300名乒乓球爱好者冒着被台风阻断归程的风险,从东京以及周边城市赶到横滨文化体育馆,参加“第一届草根版日中交流桌球大会” 在日语中, “草根”的意思是最基层。从上个世纪六十年代开始,中日乒乓球界的高层交往一直非常频繁,两国老一代运动员之间也结下了深厚的友情。但民间组织发起的日中乒乓球交流却十分少见,中国乒协主席徐寅生为本次比赛发来了贺词,在日本的11名前中国国手冒着风雨赶到比赛现场指导日中乒乓球爱好者。日本乒协专务理事木村兴治盛赞这次民间活动将载入日中乒乓球交流的史册,并将促进两国人民的友谊和乒乓球运动的发展。

However, non-governmental organizations initiated the exchange of Japanese-Chinese table tennis is rare, the Chinese Table Tennis Association Chairman Xu Yinsheng sent a message for this competition in Japan, 11 former Chinese nationals rushed to the scene to guide the Japanese and Chinese table tennis fans . Kimura Hori, Japan’s top honorary president of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, praised this folk event for loading the history of table tennis exchanges between Japan and China and will promote the friendship between the two peoples and the development of table tennis.
