Born in New York in 1956, Joe Satriani established himself as a guitar teacher in San Francisco in 1980 by virtue of his guitar teaching. He is recognized as the best guitar teacher in the area, and his students also include Kirk Hammett, the lead singer of the Metallica band, and Steve Vai, the most exciting guitar genius of his time. In 1984 he published his first solo album, and two years later his second album “Not of ThisEarth” received wide acclaim and won him a large number of fans. The “Surfing With the Alien”, published in 1987, is the only album that features some of the top 40 instrumental pieces on the charts.
