The use of retroviral or adenoviral vectors to transfer drug-sensitive genes to malignant tumors is a novel therapeutic method for the transfer of a simple herpes thymidine kinase (HS-TK) gene to tumor cells, enabling the transduction of cells to the viral drug ganciclovir ( GCV) sensitivity occurs. The authors observed the effect of intraperitoneal injection of HS-TK retroviral vectors in the peritoneal metastasis of pancreatic cancer and subsequent treatment with GCV.
