Looking at the development of the history of bibliography in the twentieth century, the development in the history of bibliography in the twentieth century can be said to be several major periods in the early twentieth century, the twenties and thirties, the fifties and sixties, and the early eighties to the present. In addition to the direct emphasis on direct access to traditional catalogs, the development of new cataloging systems and rare theoretical results at the beginning of the twentieth century, there were visible systematic textual discourses available for search during several other periods. Based on the contemporary study of history of bibliography, these comparatively important periods of development may be helpful for us to think about the direction and tasks for the development of bibliographical history in the future. First, from the research purpose, researchers in the 1920s and 1930s seem to be much more explicit. Study “ancient bibliography”, is to “today’s bibliography.” They “described the evolution of bibliography and the consequences of its evolution prior to its evolution” in order to “enable later catalogists to know in detail the trend of bibliography in the future so as to set the course for their construction”
