平阴玫瑰栽培历史悠久,据有关资料推断,大约已有六百余年,是本县的著名特产。解放前,由于反动政府无视玫瑰花生产,鲜花无销路,不少被砍当烧柴,日伪时期,破坏更甚,到平阴解放时,全县仅残存几百亩。解放后,由于各级党政领导重视、支持,玫瑰生产得到了新的发展,至七七年底,全县已发展到2,200余亩,最高年产量达20万斤。玫瑰鲜花浓香、是食品工业制酒、制糖、制花酱、香烟,日用化学工业制香脂、牙膏、香皂、香水和香料工
