中共在上海发起时,它的组织名称是什么?现在一般习惯于称之为上海共产主义小组。这当然是后起的称呼,而非原始的名称。对于中共发起时的原始名称,许多中共早期党员有着近似的回忆。施存统认为“一开始就叫‘共产党’”①。张申府也回忆说,陈独秀在征求他和李大钊的意见后,就将组织定名为“共产党”②。李达同样强调说,早期党组织的名称不是所谓的共产主义小组,而是“C.C.P”(中国共产党的英文缩写——笔者注)③。过去由于史料阙如,所以党史界对这一问题的讨论较少,一般都根据大多数当事者的回忆,推断中共发起时的组织名称就是中国共产党。
When the CPC was launched in Shanghai, what is the name of its organization? It is now customary to call it the Shanghai Communism Group. This is of course a late appellation, not an original name. For the original name of the CCP when it was launched, many early Party members in the CCP have similar memories. Shi Cun-tung believes that “the beginning is called” the Communist Party. “ Zhang Shenfu also recalled that after Chen Duxiu solicited the opinions of Li Dazhao and him, it named the organization ”the Communist Party.“ Li Da also stressed that the name of the early party was not a so-called communist group, but ”C.C.P." (Chinese Communist Party abbreviation-author note). Due to the lack of historical data in the past, the discussion in the party history on this issue is relatively rare. Generally speaking, most of the party’s memories suggest that the name of the CCP when it was launched was the Chinese Communist Party.
