Objective: To investigate the relationship between plasma lecithin - cholesterol acyltransferase (LCAT) activity and lipoprotein and erythrocyte membrane lipid components in patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disorders (ICVD). Methods: The plasma LCAT activity of 103 patients with ICVD and 60 healthy controls were detected by modified Nagaski enzymology method and substrate method. Plasma HDL-C and its sub-components (HDL2-C , HDL3-C, LDL-C, apoA1, apoB, RBCM-C and erythrocyte membrane phospholipid (RBCM-PL) Results: The plasma LCAT activity, HDL-C, HDL2-C and apoA1 levels in ICVD patients were significantly decreased, and the plasma LDL-C, apoB, RBCM-C and RBCM-C / RBCM-PL ratios were significantly increased (P <0.05). The plasma LCAT activity was positively correlated with HDL-C, HDL2-C and apoA1 levels (P <0.05, P <0.05, (P <0.05) .Conclusion: Abnormal lipid metabolism in patients with ICVD is associated with decreased plasma LCAT activity.
