陈彦的“西京三部曲”以都市普通人做为表现对象,以当代市民的世俗情感深刻地反映了社会变革时期普通民众所面临的困窘,以植根于民众下意识之中的人文关怀,揭示了历史进程中人民大众的价值选择。陈彦首开了戏曲现代戏的都市叙事,以小市民、知识分子、进城务工的农民工为表现对象和叙事主人公,对当代戏曲的叙事模式有着不同凡响的意义。
