作为太阳社的中坚人物,蒋光慈所理解的“革命文学”强调文学对时代的反映,认为作家是社会情绪的反映者、引导者,这与后期创造社的文艺“阶级论”、“工具论”、“宣传论”相比,更加注重文学的审美特质。蒋光慈以“革命文学家”作为自己的定位和追求,在文学创作与实际革命斗争的矛盾中,他艰难地选择了文学创作,没有放弃对文学本体价值的追求,然而在当时突显文学社会效用政治倾向的文坛大氛围中,蒋光慈的坚守难以避免地要走向失败的结局。
