祁连县位于青海省东北部,因地处祁连山中段而得名。境内景色如画、物产丰富,早在元朝就以“八宝”名闻天下,可谓钟灵毓秀、人杰地灵,素有“高原明珠”、“牧区江南”之美称。经历代文人墨客润笔渲染,享有“天境祁连”之盛誉。县域面积1.38万平方公里,辖4乡3镇44个行政村,聚居着汉、藏、蒙古、回、土、撒拉等15个民族,总人口4.6万。
