台湾海洋学院位于基隆市八尺门之滨,背山面海,风景壮丽。历年扩宽,现已有校地约二十余公顷。校舍包括海事大楼、渔业馆、轮机工程馆、办公大楼、图书馆、教室、实验室、工厂、学生宿舍、学生活动中心(包括膳厅)、家属宿舍、单身宿舍等,共计五十余栋,是专门培养海运科技人材唯一之高等学府。该学院其前身为台湾省立海事专科学校。一九五三年春开始筹建。六月正式建立。初设三年制专科。一九五七年增设四年制水产教育科,
