In 1949, when I was eight years old, from my place of birth in Tianjin, I returned to the rural Jizhong Plain, the hometown I had never seen before. If we say that in those few years of primary school in rural areas, it is an important stage in my process of becoming a writer and it is no exaggeration. Because it was located in the hinterland of the Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei border region that was established during the war of resistance against Japan, the hometown of that time was too big compared with Tianjin Wei of the metropolis. For example, the correspondence between rural elementary schools in that year was not completed by the postman, Because counties, the district post office staff too little, to four or five days to go to the village to go to the village, so very slow, plus there was no telephone in rural areas, often miscarriage of justice. As a result, students from primary schools in various villages and members of the Armed Forces (predecessors of the Young Pioneers) are vying to become “duty postmen.”
