2002 July 10 ~ 12, by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the United States Wu Xianming Foundation co-sponsored by the Overseas Youth Association, China Mechanical Engineering Society, the National Science Foundation and the United States Institute of Mechanical Engineers, co-organized by Dalian University of Technology “The Fifth International Youth Design and Manufacturing Science Conference” was held in Dalian. More than 370 experts and scholars from home and abroad attended the conference, including over 70 overseas scholars. The National Science Foundation (NSF) and the British Engineering Science Foundation (EPSRC) also organized a delegation to participate in the conference. Zhou Bingkun, vice chairman of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, served as chairman of the session.
