广州市海珠区鹤鸣五巷小学创办于1949年,学校地处海珠老城区二龙古街,这里曾先后走出了众多历史名人,如晚清海军名将邓世昌,著名岭南画派画家、《汉文楼谈话》作者李寿庵,画家黎葛民,南宋状元张镇孙等。得天独厚的地理环境,使学校积淀了丰富的人文资源。学校建筑年代久远,既有杜甫草堂的古朴之风,又有古巷学堂的简约之美,校内绿树婆娑,杜鹃映墙,是读圣贤书,学新知识,强身健体、立德笃行、成就师生的好地方。
