15th Anniversary Exhibition of China Realism Painting
November 28 – December 8， 2019 Guardian Art Center， Beijing
This exhibition uses classic and recent works from 31 contemporary Chinese painters to summarize and review the 15-year development of the school of China Realism. Since its establishment in 2005， China Realism has expanded to 31 members. They endeavor to explore the significance of distinctive personalities of realistic painting style while respecting tradition.
A large-scale oil painting collectively created by 26 artists depicts real stories of Chinese people fighting disaster with unity during earthquake relief efforts in May 2008. The work is considered to have set a benchmark for Chinese contemporary art creation.
Tsun-shing Cheng Photographic Exhibition “Firefly and Light”—Part Two of a Personal Passage
November 2， 2019 – January 12， 2020 Long Museum， Shanghai
The exhibition presents 136 never-before-seen original silver salt photographic works created by photographer Tsun-shing Cheng about 40 years ago. From 1976 to 1980， Tsun-shing Cheng studied in France， during which time he snapped pictures in Britain， Ireland and other European countries. These works recorded the social atmosphere and landscape of those countries at that time from an exotic and Eastern perspective.
Tsun-shing Cheng obtained a Ph.D. in Linguistics from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences in Paris and was awarded the Order of Arts and Letters（Officer） in 2012. He has been engaged in fields like aesthetics， philosophy， psychoanalysis and image review and works as a photographer， art critic， writer and filmmaker.
Sensing Externalities： Zhang Dejian Solo Exhibition
October 26 – December 20， 2019 Hive Center for Contemporary Art， Shenzhen
This exhibition focuses on the latest works by contemporary Chinese artist Zhang Dejian. The idea of “sensing externalities”originated from Chinese classical aesthetics. It refers to an artist finding feelings triggered by external things， which is interlinked with Zhang’s Chinese literati painting style.
Zhang Dejian was born in Tianjin in 1952. He graduated from the oil painting department of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts in 1989 and began teaching soon thereafter. After painting for decades， he absorbed the essence of various Chinese and Western painting theories and established a unique art philosophy integrating Chinese and Western styles.
Out of Place—He Gong Works （2009-2019）
November 9 – December 8， 2019 Himalayas Museum， Shanghai
This exhibition features a total of 45 pieces and series created by artist He Gong over the past 10 years including large-scale paintings， installations， images and other forms of art imbued with grand narrative and symbolic significance. The works focus on the landscapes of cities where the artist has lived such as Chongqing and places in the United States and Canada.
He Gong is a famous contemporary artist in China. After receiving a master’s degree from Sichuan Academy of Fine Arts in 1985， he successively studied art education at Friends University in Kansas， USA， and art sociology as a visiting scholar at York University in Canada. Now he serves as a professor and doctoral supervisor at the Art College of Sichuan University.
