在1997年台北国际航太展览会上,台湾首次公开展出了其自行研制的CM31轮式装甲车。该车战斗全重16吨,采用257千瓦(350马力)的柴油发动机,最大爬坡率达75%,最高公路时速100千米。该车车身由均质防护钢板打造,车体正面装甲可承受14.5毫米穿甲弹的打击。该车采用6轮独立悬挂系统,轮胎胎压由中央电脑自动控制,可根据各种不同的路况自动调节胎压。在胎压全部丧失后,仍可行驶一段距离。CM31可搭载10名全副武装的士兵。在步兵舱和驾驶室座间的空间处还可另外容纳3名士兵或1名携带通信装备的人员。该车可加装20～105毫米火炮,并可改装为自行迫击炮、反坦克导弹发射车、指挥车、救护车等多种车型。
At the 1997 Taipei International Aerospace Exhibition, Taiwan debuted its self-developed CM31 wheeled armored vehicle for the first time. With 16 tons of weight and 257 kilowatts (350 horsepower) diesel engine, the car has a maximum climbability of 75% and a top speed of 100 kilometers per hour. The car body is made of uniform protective steel, body front armor can withstand 14.5 mm armor piercing blow. The car uses 6 independent suspension system, the tire pressure by the central computer automatically controlled, according to a variety of different road conditions automatically adjust tire pressure. After the total loss of tire pressure, can still travel some distance. CM31 can carry 10 heavily armed soldiers. There may be an additional capacity of 3 soldiers or 1 person carrying communications equipment in the space between the infantry and cab seats. The car can be installed 20 to 105 mm artillery, and can be converted into self-mortar, anti-tank missile launchers, command vehicles, ambulances and other vehicles.
