Social media archiving is an important step toward retaining evidence, building memories and integrating information resources. Currently, the British National Archives, the U.S. Federal Government Agency and Library of Congress, the Australian National Archives and the National Library are all implementing corresponding social media archiving programs. China began to pay attention to the importance of formulating a social media filing strategy. Third-party agencies such as Internet archive also have corresponding social media filing actions. These actions have shown the expansion of the field of archives to the Internet space, promoted the transformation of archival theory and management methodology, and formed a series of practical achievements. At the same time, social media filing still has many problems in the world. It needs to be improved from the five aspects of the clarity of captured objects, the systematic construction of the mechanism, the all-round coordination of participation, the upgrading of technology and the cohesion of long-term preservation.
