马桑青又名千年红、马鞍子。华北、西北、西南及华中地区均有分布。野生于海拔200～1800公尺的灌木丛中。其果实可制酒精;种子可榨油、供制油漆、油墨;茎叶可提制栲胶;全株各部均含有马桑碱,可作土农药。1989年经中国农科院柑桔研究所化验分析,其干茎叶含氮1.82％,磷0.104％、钾1.145％、钙0.53％,说明是一种较好的果园绿肥。可开发利用。
