As the most important and common way of presenting geographic information, the map is an indispensable information tool for the survival and development of human beings. It is closely related to the public life and more important to the sovereignty, security and interests of the country. The “Regulations on Map Management” came into effect on January 1, 2016. The regulations were fully adjusted on the basis of the 1995 Regulations of the People’s Republic of China on the Administration of Map Preparation and Publishing, and were newly introduced and improved. It makes the map management more adaptable to the requirements of the information society and the development of a market economy and is more suitable for the contemporary China’s management system and map industry and related fields
