麦家的悬疑小说《解密》英文版在海外大受欢迎,这与其译者英国汉学家米欧敏的辛勤劳动密不可分,也促使中外学界一起探其译著之究竟。译者翻译策略的选择是译者主体性和翻译自觉的体现,恰到好处的翻译策略的确可以更有效地传达源语文本的神韵,米欧敏对麦家的翻译可以说就是这样的成功译例。米欧敏遵循忠实于原文的原则,但同时并非一味死板的忠实,而是从目标语读者出发,于译者、读者与作者三重身份间灵活穿梭,译出极具可读性的译本。在当今中国文学文化走出去的大背景下,译者应该尽最大努力来传递原文的神韵,但同时辅以灵活的翻译策略,从而助力中国文学更好地走出去。
The suspenseful novel “Decryption” by Mai’s family is very popular abroad. This is inseparable from the hard work of the translator, British sinologist Miou Min. It also urges Chinese and foreign scholars to explore the translation together. The choice of translator’s translating strategy is the embodiment of translator’s subjectivity and translation consciousness. The right translation strategy can indeed convey the verve of the source language text more effectively. Miou Min follows the principle of faithfulness to the original text, but at the same time does not blindly adhere to the principle of loyalty. Instead, he starts with the target language readers and moves the translator, the reader and the author in three identities to translate highly readable versions. Under the current background of Chinese literary culture going global, translators should try their best to convey the charm of the original texts, but at the same time flexible translation strategies should be used to help Chinese literature go better.
