Not long ago, patients with acute viral hepatitis were hospitalized, and now such patients remain at home unless they are seriously ill. This article reviews how to approach and treat patients with acute viral hepatitis. Introduction The United States since 1952, scheduled for viral hepatitis should be reported disease. It is ranked fourth (out of STDs, chickenpox and mumps) among 30 domestic public health infectious diseases. The incidence of hepatitis B and all hepatitis has been stable since 1970 but no previous seasonal changes have been reported.
