1987年,潭丘乡首次种植威优35杂交早稻106亩,获得了最高亩产560公斤、平均亩产460公斤的好收成。但由于初次种植杂交早稻,经验不足,同时受春播罕见恶劣天气影响,以致大部分农户的杂交早稻种子发芽率偏低,大田亩用种量平均3.9公斤,个别农户高达10公斤,种子数量增加,生产成本增大,加上杂交早稻成熟期较迟,使群众对发展杂交早稻产生了一些思想障碍。该乡1988年杂交早稻种植面积计划有一个大的发展,力争达到总栽插面积的30％,
In 1987, for the first time in Tanqiu Township, 106 mu of early hybrid rice of Weiyou 35 was planted and the best yield was 560 kg with the highest yield of 460 kg per mu. However, due to lack of experience in the initial planting of early hybrid rice and the rare bad weather during spring sowing, the germination rate of hybrid early rice seeds was low in most of the households.
