The shape and location of the sliding surface of open pit slopes and hillside landslides are determined by a series of conditions, of which the decisive ones are the engineering geological conditions. Therefore, the identification of these surfaces is the key to clarifying the engineering geological conditions and evaluating the effectiveness and stability of landslide prevention measures. In deep landslides, where there is forward movement primarily in the shale mass, satisfactory results on the nature of the landslide process are not readily available for drilling. Under these conditions, observing the target points with instruments and analyzing the results of the landslide sites may provide us with the nature of the landslide process. There are many practical examples to confirm. The deformation observation was carried out along the section line of the standard stone point in front of the external waste rock pile in the East Malizhi Opencast Mine. Along the high Rizhe River step 7 to 8 meters high gentle slope of the section line, from June 13, 1972 to February 19, 1973 on the standard stone
