Several months have passed since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. How the 9/11 terrorist attacks and the ensuing U.S. war on Afghanistan have had a major impact on the business environment of the global electronics industry? Based on the information we have received since the Sept.11 terrorist attacks, The impact is huge. Although people’s horror psychology has gradually regained its calmness, it is certain that any plan to resume industrial recovery in autumn 2001 will surely suffer a setback. Factories continue to stop working, the number of unemployed people soars and consumer confidence (see Figure 1) is at its lowest level since 1994. The industrial sector also declined as the US PMI (see Figure 2) hit its lows in October 2001. The reduction of new orders is the key to sharp decline in the purchasing index.
