历史以怎样的方式被重现?它的准确性如何?弗兰普顿(K.Frampton)在《现代建筑——一部批判的历史》卷首中就提到“所有的历史都有无可例外地受到观察模式的限制,人们不可能写一部绝对的历史”。身处在不同历史阶段的理论家都会受到时代的影响,无法进行“绝对”评判。关于现代主义建筑运动(Modern Movement),从S.吉迪翁 (Sigfried Giedion)的《时间、空间和建筑》到塔夫里(Tafuri)的《现代建筑》,现代建筑运动的内容被不断扩充;运动中的正统性遭到不断的质疑:
