The historical experience of the former Soviet Union and Eastern European countries shows that there are a large number of contradictions and problems that affect social and political stability in the transition from the traditional society to the modern society. This article chooses Ukraine in the transitional countries as a case study of political stability through three main types of relations involving party politics. It points out that the design of the political party system needs to take into account the political, social and cultural conditions before the transition; the slowly developing political party system has restricted the realization of political stability; and the polarized political culture has limited the political stability.
