Li & Fung Group is a Hong Kong-based multinational trade group. It was established in Guangzhou in 1906. It is one of the earliest foreign trading companies in China. It has a 104-year history and can be regarded as a 100-year-old Chinese multinational trading company. In 2007, 2008, and 2009, its turnover exceeded US$13.5 billion, US$16.7 billion, and US$13.195 billion (HK$104.479 billion), respectively, and it is expected to exceed US$20 billion in 2010. In the difficult time of the global financial crisis in 2009, according to Li & Fung Group, as of the end of December 2009, the profit attributable to shareholders was HK$3.369 billion, an increase of 39% over 2008; operating core profit increased by 29% to 39.9 HK$100 million; both are record high, mainly due to the Group’s control costs
