时间是十八世纪,地点在法国。一天,一辆长途马车半路上突然坏了,需要较长时候的修理。车中的旅客见附近有一所圣芳济派的修道院,便进去参观。修士们和他谈起他们的教义,原来客人对此也很熟悉。修士们又谈起他们教派分布在各处的修道院,客人也谈得滔滔不绝,他不但知道法国的修道院,而且还如数家珍的列举了德国和意大利的修道院。最后修士们提到该教派的祖师圣法兰西斯的事迹,哪知客人谈出这个圣者的许多事竟是修士们闻所未闻
The time is eighteenth century, the place is in France. One day, a coach suddenly broke down half way, requiring a longer repair time. Passengers in the car saw a nearby Franciscan monastery, went in to visit. The monks talked to him about their teachings, and the guests were familiar with it. The monks talked about the monasteries where their denominations were scattered all over the place. The guests spoke endlessly. Not only did they know French monasteries, but they also cite countless examples of monasteries in Germany and Italy. In the end, the monks referred to the deeds of Saint Francis, founder of this denomination, and many of the things that the guests were saying about this holy man were unheard of monks
