黑龙江省在建国初期1951年全省20多万亩甜菜平均亩产1吨。建国38年间甜菜亩产达到或超过1吨的只有1951年、1967年和1983年三个年份。其余均未达到这个水平。也就是多年来甜菜单产并没有提高,很多地方还有下降趋势。而黑龙江省的其他作物,如玉米,建国初期亩产仅100公斤左右,由于采用了良种、增肥、密植等措施,到七十年代就提高到亩产150多公斤,目前已达250到300公斤,高产地区已达400到500公斤,
