France built a large number of destroyers in the 1950s and 1960s. With the new weapons and equipment on board, warships cost more and more expensive. By the 1970s, the number of French destroyer structures began to decline, and in the early 1970s three “Turville” anti-submarine destroyers were built. In formulating the new shipbuilding plan, the French military considered the “Turville” tonnage to be too large and high in cost to propose the construction of a small “George Lego” class antisubmarine frigate (French domestic claim) with a displacement of “ Weir ”class of 5950 tons down to 4490 tons, so that the cost of a single ship to reduce the final“ George Legge ”total made a total of seven.
