该造像龛位于偃师市首阳山镇石桥村石桥小学内(普救寺遗址)。据清乾隆五十四年(1789)《偃师县志》记载,偃师县西北25咀,古石桥镇有普救寺,寺院原建筑坐北面南,南北中轴线上的主要建筑有山门、天王殿、二佛殿、大佛殿、登天台等。另据清代该寺《祖庭碑记》记载,该寺建于东汉和帝永元九年(99),重修于北魏、唐、宋、元、明、清时期。普牧寺历经兵荒战乱,风雨侵蚀,虽屡毁屡修,但今已荡然无存,仅存造像龛一件。
The statue niche is located in Shiyang Town, Yanshi City Stone Bridge Village Primary School (Pu Temple site).
