菱花镜相关词汇最早出现于南北朝时期,之后在文学作品、文物论著中大量出现。然而千百年来,围绕菱花镜的本意、由来、含义却存在很大争议,至今未有令人信服的结论。本文通知对菱花镜前人研究总结并结合文物学专业知识,经过详细论证,最终提出菱花镜这一词汇来源于铜镜史上的透光镜,“照日菱花出”即是铜镜背面纹饰照日后光影映在墙上,状似菱花这一创新性结论,从而进一步深化了菱花镜这一千古之迷的研究。
