In 1997, our province was identified by the former State Education Commission as one of the ten provinces and cities that carried out pilot projects of higher vocational education. From 1997 to 1998 a total enrollment of 6,330 students, of whom 4413 were enrolled in secondary vocational schools, accounting for 69.7% of the total enrollment.
