甜瓜是我区特产,每年都有大量产品远销内地、港澳,颇受欢迎。近年来由于病害的普遍发生,甜瓜品质变劣,产量降低,种植面积不断缩小。昌吉、呼图壁等县一向为出口瓜基地,由于病害严重发生,致使农民不敢种瓜。 1985年我区植保科研、教学、生产部门密切配合,边试验研究、边推广,在昌吉、吐鲁番、哈密等地大面积开展综合防治示范,在6368亩面积上取得了良好的防治效果和经济效益,各种病害得到了有效控制。1985年病毒病发生推迟20天,病情指数10％以下,根病病情指数5％以下,叶病指数15％以下,平均亩产值437.27元,含糖量提高1度。
