The Mekong River is the heart and soul of mainland China. More than 60 million people depend on the water of the Mekong and its tributaries to support their food, drinking water, transport and other daily lives. The Mekong is second only to Brazil’s Amazon River has the world’s largest variety of fish. The Mekong River, which came from China’s Qinghai Province to the South China Sea, has, for thousands of years, been flowing slowly and calmly according to its usual pattern and has irrigated the flowers of civilization on the Indochina Peninsula. Nowadays, in the increasingly globalized era of the world, the river and the people living on both sides of the river still present uncommon natural and simple features. What has drawn us? Architecture? Religion? History? Or the people there? Once upon a time we only traveled as separate nations, no doubt it was the Lancang-Mekong that made them a long chain Nurturing the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and pouring out the flowers that once attracted my civilization. The Lancang-Mekong River originates from a small glacier 5167 meters above sea level at the northern foot of the Tanggula Mountain in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau of China. The total length of the main stream is 4,880 kilometers and flows through the provinces of Qinghai, Tibet and Yunnan and Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia and Vietnam. International rivers, known as the “Danube of the East.”
