著名昆虫学家周尧教授从事昆虫学研究和教学工作60余年,他埋头苦干、尽心竭力,在昆虫学研究领域做出了巨大的贡献:建立了中国昆虫学史学科体系,发现、记述昆虫新种360余种,著成《中国昆虫学史》、《中国盾蚧志》、《中国蝉科志》,编著科技巨著《中国蝶类志》,创建并主编了《昆虫分类学报》、《中国昆虫学杂志》。数十年来,周先生采集、收藏了大量的昆虫标本,到1982年,昆虫标本已达26万多件。西北农业大学的昆虫标本室不仅成为昆虫分类和区系研究的基地,而且吸引了不少国内外昆虫学家前来参观。但新增的标本无处存放,只能堆在地面上、橱顶上、桌面上,标本室内只留下
