Following the development of a spectrophotometric system for the determination of ternary complexes of trace metals, uranyl ions were found to form soluble blue complexes with chrome azure S and cetylpyridinium bromide (CPB). The results of the chromogenic reaction reported in this paper are expected to enable it to develop into a spectrophotometric method suitable for the determination of uranium (Ⅵ).
