Calcitonin gene-related peptide is a new neuropeptide discovered by Amrada in 1982 from the structural analysis of calcitonin gene expression products. Immunochemical and RIA Assay Results CGRP-containing nerve fibers have been identified in cats, dutch pigs, rabbits, rats, mice and human middle cerebral arteries and pial vessels. We also use the RIA method to further confirm that there is also a small amount of CGRP in the brain microvessels. In vitro experiments show that CGRP can significantly expand the middle cerebral artery and basilar artery. Microinjection of CGRP around the blood vessels can cause vasodilation of the pia mater. However, there have been no reports of the effects of CGRP on blood flow and its distribution in whole animals, different brain regions in the brain. In this study, different doses of Mongolian gerbils were given by intraventricular injection
