Independent opportunity to enter the sugar industry Kuok Ngok was born in October 6, 1923 in an overseas Chinese businessman family. From elementary school to university, enrolled are elite. Some heads of state in Malaysia and Singapore, including Lee Kuan Yew, are all his alumni. Many outstanding students, Kwok Hok Nien gave a lot of help when in power. In 1947, Kuok Hok Nien opened his first company, Lectra, in Singapore. Starting from the selling of rice noodles, the scope of business has gradually expanded to shipping brokerage, boat rental and adhesive manufacturing. In 1949, Kuok Hok Nien became Kuo brother
