我国民间流传着一句话:戏是劝人方。文人墨客中则流传着“诗言志”的格言。说的都是一个意思:为文写戏,要立意,要有思想主旨,要提炼出鲜明的主题来。戏剧大师曹禺对立意作过一段精采的论述,他说:“一个写作的人,对人,对人类,对社会,对世界,对种种大问题,要有一个看法。作为一个大的作家,要有‘自己’的看法,‘自己’的思想,有‘自己’的独立见解。不然,尽管掌握了很多的、很丰富的生活积累,但他没有一个独立的见解。没有一个头脑来运用这些东西,从中悟出一个道理,悟出一个主题来,那还是写不出深刻的作品。”
