In August 1899, Dalian built its city during the reign of Tsarist Russia and the city’s oldest street was built in that era. After the Russo-Japanese War, Dalian was a Japanese colony for a period of 40 years (1905-1945). The project takes the modern history of Dalian as the background, takes the place in the city as an index, and runs through narrative fragments from different periods. Taking photography, text and video as media, it mainly deals with two aspects: the complexity of the history of war and colonialism and the change of its functions and attributes in different periods
