Learning and understanding the target language culture has always been an important part of American foreign language teaching. As far as classroom-based cultural teaching is concerned, in addition to topics such as the selection of teaching content, another issue that deserves research is the ways in which students can better understand the target culture and compare cultures with each other. This article introduces a form and practice of teaching Chinese culture in American colleges and universities through the teaching of Chinese culture course at Tennessee State University and discusses how to use the open digital resources on the Internet to describe and interpret some Chinese national conditions that Chinese college students are concerned about and China cultural phenomenon. We find that the use of quantitative data can not only make teachers more convincing about the interpretation of Chinese culture, but also enable students to objectively compare different cultures so as to achieve the teaching goal of learning and understanding cultural knowledge in foreign language teaching.
