Fengyinzhan 1 is a late season indica rice variety with moderate sensitivity to photoperiod. It was from the cross of Qingfengzhan, which is a disease resistant, photoperiod sensitive, late season indica rice variety, and Yinsizhan, which is a photoperiod insensitive, early seasoft indica rice variety with tenerness and good quality. Its plant area in Guangdong was 33 ha in 1991 and 4,400 ha in 1992. Fengyinzhan 1 is classified as special grade 2.Its head rice recovery is 66%, chalkiness rate 8%,amylose content 18.6%, gel consistency value 45 mm, and the transparency of milled rice is good. The cooked rice is tender and tasteful. Fengyinzhan 1 is characterized by compact plant type, narrow and erect leaves, moderate tillering ability, 105 cna plant height, and 130 dgrowm duration. The plant can keep health at late filling stage, therefore, give higher seed setting rate.
