OBJECTIVE: To observe salivary flow, acid-base balance and the amount of Streptococcus mutans in saliva of patients with RPDs to explore the mechanism and characteristics of RPDs on oral micro-ecological environment. Methods: The patients were collected for 5 minutes in non-irritating whole saliva in a dry clean bottle, the total amount of saliva secretion per unit time (flow rate mL / min) was calculated, and the saliva pH value was measured with a precision pH test paper. According to the literature, saliva Streptococcus mutans. Results: ①The salivary flow rate decreased and the salivary pH increased after wearing RPDs, but they returned to normal with the prolongation of wearing time. ② The amount of S. mutans in saliva after wearing RPDs increase. Conclusion: Wearing RPDs can lead to decreased salivary secretion, acid-base balance, and the increase of cariogenic streptococcus mutans. It is of practical significance to understand the mechanism of RPDs on oral microecology and to prevent and cure RPDs on oral health.
