2008年6月11日,记者从文物部门获悉,山西省太原市文物局在晋阳古城宗教祭祀区———太山龙泉寺,发现了一处建筑遗址,经有关专家发掘证实,为唐武周时期佛塔基址。据了解,现基址下已发掘出地宫一座,地宫内藏有石函一个,石函内有木椁,木椁内有鎏金铜棺,历史、艺术、文化和科研价值极高。目前,太原市文物局已邀请到国际古迹遗址理事会西安国际保护中心,会同太原市文物考古研究所共同完成对该遗址出土文物的清理保护工作。

At present, the Taiyuan Municipal Bureau of Cultural Relics has invited the Xi’an International Center for Conservation of Protests of International Monuments and Sites and the Institute of Cultural Relics and Archeology of Taiyuan to work together to complete the cleanup and protection of cultural relics unearthed at the site.
