Traditional Chinese medicine is one of the traditional treasures of our country and has been widely used for thousands of years. However, the analysis of ingredients in traditional Chinese medicine has always been a complicated and arduous task. The varieties of Chinese medicine are complex and their contents often differ depending on the place of production, the cultivation method, the harvest season, and the location of the crude drug. The components of Chinese herbal compound preparations are more complex and diverse. In recent decades, chromatographic methods such as TLC, GC and HPLC have been used for the analysis of Chinese herbal ingredients, but they have many defects. The TLC method has a low separation efficiency and poor reproducibility. Although the GC method has a high separation efficiency and detection flexibility, it cannot be used to analyze volatile and heat-labile components, thus limiting its use.
